> Way back in the early days of my career I was turned on to a

> He had a weekly TV show, a giant church with thousands of attendees
> and everybody heard of or knew this guy as he was well liked

> He was a personable chap and we got along quite well though I must
> admit I was intimidated around him, much like being around a judge or
> neurosurgeon or astronaut.
> His wife was very formal and gracious and they were very professional
> and acccomodating.
> Like I said, I was new at this thing and all of it was terrifying.
> Before and after each meeting, and there were many, they would insist

> Afterall, this was my opportunity to have the preacher put money in my
> collection plate.
>
> During one of the meetings the wife had to leave and the preacher and
> I were alone and thats when he assumed his position.
> He started to tell me how successful I will be someday.
> If I believe in (his) lord jesus.
> He kept insisting on this, though I knew it already.
> But I let him run on and on none the less.
> At one point he was sitting right directly in front of me and our
> knees were almost touching and he had his hand on my shoulder and was
> staring right into my eyes and telling me to envision the type of sign
> I would have on my opulent office building.
> He told me to think about all the little details about my office and
> my career and business.
> "Focus Don, FOCUS!"
> "Focus on your future!"
>
> Suddenly I heard some whimpering.
> WTF?
> But I kept staring at him and paying attention.
> Quite frankly, the boy was scaring the be-jeezziss outta me and I
> wouldn't dare look away.
>
> I heard some whimpering, from behind me.
> I needed desperately to turn around and see what was going on but I
> daresent take my eyes off the preacher.
> GOD himself was starring into my very soul and I could feel it in
> every single fiber of my being.
>
> Then I heard a voice, very low, barely discernable.
> It was a female voice.
> Barely a mumble.
> It got a little louder.
> The preacher was turning up the tempo.
> "Repent, Don, brother REPENT!"
>
> Mumble, mumble.
>
> "Ask Gee Zuss to be your savior and salvation will be yours, eternal
> life everlasting."
> "Do it NOW!"
>
> She was speaking a foreign language but I couldn't tell which one.
>
> She got louder.
> Her words were audible now but still undecipherable.
>
> I had to see what was looming behind me, I just had to.
>
> So I turned around.......
>
> It was the preachers wife, she had slipped back into the room without
> my hearing her.
>
> She looked just like she did before she left.
> But.....
>
> Now she was sitting bolt upright in a straightback chair, her hands
> were crossed over her chest, her head was thrown back, and her lips
> were a flurry of activity as words, partial words, sounds and gutteral
> responses were emitted from her mouth.
>
> I was halfway expecting to see fleets of locusts coming lurching out
> of her mouth.
>
> She was shaking uncontrollably, vibrating, and suddenly her arms were
> thrust outward, openly and her eyes were open widely and she screamed,
> 'Jesus, save this sinner!'
>
> The preacher had both hands on both my shoulders and was applying
> downward pressure as if to keep satan himself from evacuating me from
> the premisis. He had an angry, painful look on his face, like he was
> under a tremendous strain.
>
> It was scary man, real scary.
>
> I was expecting hurricanes and flames and shit to start coming out
> from everywhere, and the very earth to start trembling.
>
> Did I say it was scary.
>
> This shit was downright SCARY!!!!
>
> I've seen some pretty scary shit before, but this stuff was coming in
> from another angle, if you know what I mean.
>
> The screaming subsided back to a whimper and then the whimpering too
> stopped.
> The preacher slowly let go of me and the winds and flames died down.
> The earth stopped shaking.
> I saw rays of sun streaming in through all the windows and I was aware
> of birds outside.
>
> The preacher sat back in his chair, his wife came around in front with
> a smile on her face, and though her hair was slightly disheveled she
> offered not one hint as to what had transpired only moments before.
> Its like I was dreaming, having a vivid Tarentino nightmare and
> suddenly awakened in the presence of these two people.
>
> The preacher got up and went to his wife, looked at me and asked if
> I'd like something to drink.
>
> I said no and that I had to go to another appointment in a few
> minutes.
>
> Then I told them I would call them the next day and set an appointment
> for our next meeting on their home design.
>
> I thought about what had happened for a long time afterwards.
>
> But not in the way you might imagine............
Wow. I've had some heavy clients over the years, but never had to handle
that.
It's called "Speaking in Tongues". Sometimes claimed to be Aramaic (the
language Jesus would have spoken).
