The termite company says the poly needs to go down very soon after they
come in and treat the foundation in a new construction. fine. It also
seems the best time from a practical standpoint.

But, won't the framers make a mess of the poly when framing the floor?
there'll be sawdust nails etc. all over the place. Is the poly
typcially installed after the floor is framed?

I imagine the termite company wants poly down to prevent a big rain from
weakening their soil poison.

Otherwise, the termite company should have no concern about when or if the
poly is placed in the crawl space.

FWIW, it is a lot easier to put it down before the floor framing is in. You
will, however, have a few scraps to pick up off the poly, but you will
probably get a better looking job. If an area is damaged, you can add a
second later anytime during construction.

If you are planning hardwood floors above the crawl space, get the poly down
pretty early as it will reduce the moisture that can affect the wood floors.
