I assume you have a barrel counter tensioner.... not visible springs...
Anyway as part of your research, check to see that the door doesn't
fall by itself if the opener is disconnected, it should stop wherever
you physically position it. If not adjust the counter-tension or
replace the springs, etc. Also check all the rollers for play, no
binding anywhere and lube where indicated, and no 3/4 hp is not too
much.
