You can instantly download a Sears mail-order house plan book from:

http://www.housemouse.net/ebooks/southwest1003.htm

50 Craftsman Mail-order House Plans, 1916

and is bundled with the eBook titled:
50 House Plans for Home Builders in the Southwest (non-mail-order
houses from Texas, 1910)

A good buddy of mine's dad lives in a "Sears" house that was put up by his
gradfather - excellent quality brick home that you'd never suspect was mail
ordered.

I rather suspect those "built-like-a-fortress" mail-order brick homes will
be standing long after the track home crap from many US home builders will
be decrepit ghettos.
