The best thing she could do is go to a local pool supply place and they can
teach her how to test the water and adjust the ph and chlorine level. It's
going to require about an hour a day to vacuum the pool (depending on its
size) . If she has trees near by, there'll be the problem of leaves in the
pool to deal with. The chemical adjustment process is not complicated. An
automatic chlorinator will relieve the need to monitor quite as much,
although the pool will still need to be shocked with super chlorinization
every 10 day to two weeks still.
