Thank you very much. I'm afraid I'll be declining the Middle Eastern
posting though.
That's a place that makes you thankful you don't live there even as you
wonder how anybody does.
Looking at the contractor's position it would have been most forthright and
foresighted for him to give notice to the OP about signage he was going to
erect, explaining
that the advertising benefit he expected to yield from the posting of that
sign
allowed him to make his best price consideration on the job. Of course,
if the OP didn't want the sign the contractor could have made that an issue
in arriving at his quotation.
But, in general, this doesn't seem like a nuclear issue to me.
