The hand should be holding the twobyfour down. Might catch a thumb
though....

True but I would never use anything like wood as a
straight edge to cut against. I used only metal
because a knife can catch in the wood and drag up and
across the top of it. As I said, I have seen it
happen.

when you have a 12-14" knife stuck down through a slot in the plywood, it's
not likely it's gonna ride up on the twobyfour.
