I need to install a vanity top between two walls 37 3/4" apart. The
closest vanity top I can find is 37". I was thinking of just getting a
wider one and cutting it down but thought I might try to find some
other possible solutions first. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

What sort of vanity top? Granite or marble? Plastic?

Will you be tiling the walls after fitting? They may fill the 3/4".

What is the material of the vanity top?
What is on the walls that the top will butt up against? Wallboard, Tile,
or other?
I was kinda confused when you said 'a wider one'. I think you meant a
longer one.

If you can't find a ready-made top to fit the available space, you'll have
to create a custom top.

You could use the 37" vanity and add 3/8" splash panels or trim on each
end.

You could cut a plywood top to fit and apply your choice of sink and
laminate (this is what we chose for our bathroom sinks).

You could have a counter custom cut out of marble, granite, corian, or some
other solid surface material.

You could build up a base and tile the counter top before installing a
sink.

You could even have custom concrete counters installed.
