I went to home depot on 1/23/2007 and purchased a Maytag Washing
Machine. When I got home my old Maytag started to work again.
I went back and cancelled the order.
On 2/9/2007 it died so I went back to Home Depot.
I had them look up my purchase and they reissued the the Item.

Today 2/13-2007 it was received but little did I notice that
they substituted with a different model that they assure me is the
same.

It is not the same and has no delicate wash plus a multitude of
other amenities.

I went back to the store and was told since I did not refuse it on
delivery it now is not returnable.

Their manager said to be basically tough luck
I called corporate and was told basically buyer beware or Home Depot
will screw you.

Never again Home depot

It's called bait and switch. One call to the consumer protection
division of your state Attorney General's office should cure the problem
pretty quickly.

If that was the case then all of those camera stores up in NY/NJ would
be out of business instead of running the same scams year after
year...

They get away with it because they do a lot of mail order and on-line
stuff. It's tough to go after a merchant from hundreds of miles away
and from another state.

They have an endless line of suckers literally from around the world.
If you're not happy with them or feel like you've been scammed, tough
shit, there's another guy in line right behind you waiting his turn to
get porked.

For the few that do go after them, they know that most will give up
after a while. The small percentage who pursue them relentlessly will
eventually get some kind of satisfaction. Not a bad business model if
you have no conscience and no scruples whatsoever.

Getting satisfaction is much easier when it's your local HD and they
have to deal with a local customer base.

It's strange that companies like CCI Camera City, Photo Nation, Royal
Camera, Century 21 Electronics, and other such scam artists can
operate without any repercussions... They advertise a product at a
ridiculously low price and then claim that it doesn't come with items
that the manufacturer always includes with the item... If you don't
order those items from them (at their ridiculously inflated prices),
they will keep stringing you along saying that the camera is being
shipped from overseas and is on back order... Quite often, they are
extremely rude if you call in to ask about your order or if you say
that don't want the (overpriced) 'extras'... It's interesting that
this sort of company seems to always be located in the NY/NJ area...
Perhaps it says something about the ethics of the people up there?

A couple of hundred miles would not stop me from showing up on their
doorstep and expressing my dissatisfaction in a very *personal*
manner... Being half way across the country from them, it is a bit of
a deterent... Luckily, I have not had to make that choice since I used
a virtual credit card number (which they haven't charged yet) and am
constantly keeping track to see if any charges show up on it... I'm
protected from most any scam that they might attempt to perpetuate...
They'll probably just never ship the item...

To make matters worse, sites like shopcartusa.com show them as a
highly rated company with tons of good reviews... Obviously those
reviews are fake, probably planted by company employees...
