hi there,
i'm working on a remodeling that involves replacing all the windows of
the house (15).
most probably the owners will choose wooden windows with a fiber glass
cladding.
in order to integrate the new window to the existing weather barrier, i
will remove about 6-8 inches of stucco all along the perimeter of the
opening, install the window in the framing, and put the flashing paper
as it should go.
my concern is how to keep the integrity of the chicken wire for the
stucco.
should i hammer down the stucco around the opening leaving the wire? i
think it will be too much stress for the structure to break it down
with a sledge hammer or similar. it might affect the plaster inside,
etc.
i could cut the stucco + wire, but then i will need to replace the wire
and for that i will need to nail it to a solid member, so i should go
all the way to the closest stud. and stilll i will need to hammer it
down to have some old wire where to attach the new.
would a pneumatic hammer help?
