Not talking about a "subcooler", talking about *subcooling* where your
looking for the Delta T between LLP converted to temperature, and actual LLT
coming from the condenser. Normally for A/C and heat pumps, the Delta T
should be between 10 - 14F to insure a solid column of liquid refrigerant to
the TXV.

The only time we change gas, is if the unit had R-12, and
then we use 416a. The older units are designed for R-12, and
the newer units come with R-134 in them. Not doing any
conversions.
Never worked on a two stage cooler.

Chris Why would you want change gas on first place
you put in a system what was design for
yes R-12 is expansive but customer is paying for it
so why would any one try to switch refrigerant?
And yes all new gases Refrigerants are working at
much higher pressures and higher discharge temperatures.
And for those of you that seems bring subcooler in
conversations the subcooler is always use in extreme
low temperatures and definitely not in AC systems
are in refrigerators if you find one system that does that
send or post name and model # of that unit I would
appreciate greatly.
