Dear Comcast High-Speed Internet Customer:
As of October 25, 2008, the complimentary Comcast Newsgroups service,
powered by Giganews, will be discontinued. This feature provided customers
access to 2 gigabytes of newsgroup information on a monthly basis. After
this date, these customers will no longer be able to access the Comcast
Newsgroups service through Comcast. Customers who have subscribed directly
to Giganews for newsgroup access will not be affected by this change.
While we have seen a decline in popularity of newsgroups as customers have
chosen to get information from other sources, we know a small percentage of
our customers continue to use newsgroups today. If you are interested in
continuing to access newsgroups, Giganews is offering a special promotion
for Comcast customers. Click here to learn more.
Thank you for being a valued customer.

'Complimentary'. I love it. I suppose their email and web
connection are 'complimentary', too, huh ? As in 'can be taken away
at any time'. Kinda like day old dounuts at a motel.

The government works the same way. First the government offers something
for free and everybody raves. Then they make rules and changes to control
it, everybody boos but obeys. Then the government starts charging a minor
fee for the service, and everyone boos but, its a minor fee so ok. Then the
government raise the shit out of the fee and since everyone is using the
service / convenience they pay it.
Look at the cost of fuel. It goes up a whole bunch, then, everyone cries.
Then the big oil companies lower the price a little, and everyone goes
hooray - and so the cycle begins.

Time to demand a large cut in their pricing as there has been a large
reduction in their services. Who owns and/or controls ComCast?
That may be the answer as to why.

Comcast is in Philly and a big "deal" they own somewhere around half the cable
TV networks in the country. The FCC gives them crap every once awhile but they
are a law unto themselves. Their ONLY concern is you pay the bill every month.
When I called about the newsgroup fiasco the "reps" didn't even know. Useless.
