Need some advice from someone familiar with a comfortmaker heat pump

My Daughter's Comfortmaker Heat Pump (approx. 12 years old) has a PVC
condensate drain at the evaporator coil but, in addition, has two
short 1/2" copper tubes protruding from the cabinet, one offset and
slightly above the other and both somewhat above the PVC Drain pipe.

They each protrude outside of the cabinet approx. 1" and are open to
the outside (disconnected). My daughter said there used to be a blue
plastic hose connecting the two but it has since deteriorated.

Now, the condensate drains from the uppermost copper tube, instead of
being directed to the PVC Drain.

Does anyone know what these two short copper tubes are for and if and
how they should be connected - if at all ?

Meanwhile, I'm going today - to see if the PVC Drain is clogged.

Thanks for your help

Bill

The copper tubes are worth a lot of money. Remove them for scrap
copper. Next spray the coil surface with a boric acid and muratic acid
mix. Scrape it clean with a belt sander. Rinse with hot water and bake
it dry in a convection oven.

Bubba - if you don't know, just don't reply

My profession is electronics. When I'm familiar with a subject, I
reply freely to those that ask for help.

IMHO, you are an embarrassment to both this newsgroup and profession
and someone should take you to task.

Maybe you would have gotten better responses had you posted pics of exactly
what your talking about and specific model and serial numbers of the
installation.
I can't tell what she has or what to do to correct the issues because my
crystal ball is too cloudy, and I can't *SEE* it through the computer
screen.
IMHO You need to call a local pro so you won't embarrass yourself on here
anymore.
