Yep, and they will keep doing it. After all, it took most of these
brainiacs 10 years to learn how to correctly wire a
thermostat.......only fitting that they would treat it like a highly
guarded trade secret! Probably best for the OP anyway, 'cause they
don't know the first thing about the electric requirements of HVAC
equipment. Not the first one of them can produce an HVAC schedule from
a set of blueprints, simply because they have never seen one or know
what the fuck one is. Most of these wizards couldn't make it in the
trade or get hired by real HVAC contractors, so they became self-
appointed "contractors" or finally passed an exam after taking it 5 or
6 times. Thus, the learning curve dropped off rapidly and they remain
in a state of ignorance. That's why the angry, adolescent behavior.
It's downright pitiful when they compare themselve's to MD's and PhD
Chemists <sniker>. They desperately have a need to be called
professionals, yet have no idea what behavior a real professional
exhibits. If you want a good laugh, just take a look at this board
from last June when they pissed off the wrong "homoaner."

Hey, (you stupid fuck)...painfully obvious above how you never even thought
to mention the FUCKING GREEN wire...

I'm calling the White Rodgers help line this Monday to try to get some
advice, and then I will hire a professional if I don't get a confident
anwser.

I'm trouble to have to call a Pro cause the thermostat is fully
operational in all ways but my current problem. I ran it all summer and
the heatpump worked fine for air-conditioning. I can turn on and off
the fan and when target heat is reached I can see out my window that
the heatpump fan stops and the heatpump stops humming. I do believe
that the thermostat is not turning out the Emergency heating coil
because of a misplaced wire or possibly two incorrectly jumper
terminals.

I originally called White-Rodgers tech support multiple times to get
the what I thought was the right configuration, and I think I've made
just one mistake somewhere. Here is some background.

The old White Rodgers thermostat was a (1F58-910) with these wires:

W - 1st stage heat
W2 - Aux, Heat
Y - compressor
E - emergency heat
X - common terminal
R - power
G - fan
O - c/o valve cool

The new White Rodgers thermostat is a (1F95-1271) with these terminals:

L - fault/malfunction indicator
O - c/o valve cooling
B - c/o valve heat
Y - compressor
Y2 - 2ns compressor
W/E - heat relay/emergency heat relay (stage 1)
W2 - 2nd stage heat
G - fan
RH, RC (jumped together) - power for heating and cooling
C - common termonal

The White Rodgers tech support advised me to make the following
connections

Wires | Terminal
--------------------------
W -> B
W2 -> W2
Y -> Y
E -> W/E
X -> C
R - RH/RC
G -> G
O -> O

And finally he told me to jumper W2 to W/E and I think that might be
where the problem is. Any obviuos problems with my setup?

O or B is NOT to be connected to aux heat ( W ) but is instead only used for
the reversing valve--O or B....one or the other but almost never would one
use both.

The only thing that is obvious is that we can't tell you shit without
knowing the make/model numbers of the equipment. They are *NOT* all the
same. and FWIW, Honeywell makes a hell of a lot better thermostats.
