The first time I met him in person was at ASHRAE, I forget where -
Atlanta, maybe ? We had already been working on PMTHERM for a quite a
while together, but had never met.

I saw him at Sporlan's booth, so I turned my name badge around, picked
up a demo TXV from teh table, and waited until he was done with the
guy he was talking to.

I held it up in front of him , and sad, with a DEAD serious face '

" Hi. I have a question about these things. This part here (
pointing to the transmit tube form the sensing bulb ) is always too
long, and it flops around, so recently I started cutting out the extra
slack and sweating the ends back together with a coupling.

A lot of them don't seem to work right. Is there a
manufacturing problem ?"

Talk about 'Catching poor old Andy off guard' :-) ..... and
speechless, for the first and only time since I've know him :-)
