The price indicates that it is a Cheap Gas furnace with cheap
3 ton AC. Too cheap to be coupled with a Heatpump of any kind.

I presume you have AC also. Did they want to replace the AC as well as the
furnace?

What's your energy for heat? Propane, natural gas, electric, oil, heat pump?
Well, heat pump wouldn't have a heat exchanger to have a hole. Nor electic.

Would you be on natural gas, propane, or oil?

Hi:

Turned on heat Sunday for first time this year, heat made a noise and shut
off. Had a service tech out to look at yesterday, shows me large hole in
heat exchanger and cracks in other part of heat exchanger. Unit is
Goodman, 11 years old. Should I replace or repair? First estimate to
repair was $1400, replace for $5300 with comparable Goodman. I live in
Middle Tennessee, 3 ton unit, any estimate of what I can expect to pay?
