Fill the loops with auto antifreeze. It has corrosion inhibitors.
Purge all the air. Close them off really good, preferably with
threaded caps, not just valves. Remove the piece of the firplace loop
that is in the fireplace and cap it's end's off. The metal was
previously cooled by the water in it. Depending on the pipe material
it can become brittle with repeated higher heating.
