How about **I** call bullshit ? Because that's exactly what I
say about your statement above.

When you work on a machine, you should fix what's broke, and
charge for your parts and your time for fixing it. If yuo put freon
in, you shoudl charge for it, and if you dont' you shouldn't lie about
it and charge for it anyway. That's being a thief and a scumbag. And
don't give me this bullshit about ' the customer wants to hear' this
and that. What the customer wants to hear is THE TRUTH, not a lie you
made up to add $ 30 to the bill for something they didn't get from
you. The fact they don't have the technical skills to question you,
and you don't have the communications skills to make your customer
understand your work, is no excuse for being a thief.

Now, I assume your response to **ME** won't start off with
'You don't have enough time in the field', because I've sold and
installed a whole lot more freon than you ever did, including
varieties you never even heard of.

I never thought I would be agreeing with you, but you beat me to the
punch. It is one thing to give a customer what he insists on getting in
spite of the fact he did NOT need it, but it is another to charge him
for something he DID NOT get. He is committing fraud when he charges
for Freon not delivered.

Shame on you Bubba!! I hate to think about the other items you might
have charged for that were also not delivered. I may be old fashioned,
but I STILL think honesty is the best policy and the best thing you can
do to get new customers.

I know what you mean about the "did you put freon in" routine.
That self dianosis is usually either freon or thermostat.

One customer I had a couple years ago. The 3.5 ton condensing
unit was drawing 16 amps, name plate said 13.5 amps. No cooling,
pressures were great. I offered him a deal, he was figuring that
if 3.5 tons didn't cool the house, he needed 5 at least. My offer
was let me clean the outside unit. If it starts cooling you pay
me, if not then we discuss larger system. It did, and he did.

Interesting thought, could have sold him "2 pounds of freon", and
let him have a "free cleaning". But, that's not my nature.
However, I'm sure it woulda left him with a good feeling. And his
family would have been air conditioned.

You can't shout down a troll.
You have to starve them.
.

You're a total fucking idiot and you havent a clue about the
service
industry. You wouldnt last a week in this business.
Same thing happens in the summer.
Customers call. "My A/C is running but its just not cooling well
at
all and its hot in my house. I think it needs freon".
When you arrive at the call the customer reiterates the same
thing.
"Its not cooling well, I think it needs freon".
Check out the A/C. Air filter is clogged and condenser is
filthy.
You clean the system, check the refrigerant and it is working
like new
again. No parts. Just cleaning.
Its 95 degrees out and the house is 85 degrees inside. You
finish and
talk to the customer. You tell them what you did. First thing
out of
their mouth is again, "Did you put freon in?"
Let me tell you. 99% of the time, if you didnt tell the customer
that
you added "freon" you will get a call back until you put it in.
Ive tried it the other way. It doesnt work. They want what they
want.
What do I do you ask?
I charge them for 2 lbs of refrigerant that never gets
installed. Im
not about to argue with them when thats what they think they
want.
The "sane" customers get a cleaning and no further charge.
The "Nuts" get exactly what they wish for.
Come back her after about 20 yrs in this field KEN and then tell
me
your words of wisdom.
Until then, go preach your babbling shit somewhere else.

I wish you would not delete the "quotation" ">>" symbols to make your
posts look tidy. Those marks appear to help dimwits like me keep track of
who said what.

In this particular message, its easy to tell, as Bubba's writing has a
certain flare of its own. :-) Hi Bubba ;-]

Merry Christmas to all.

He doesn't do that on purpose. That's his WebTV doing that. Though
it is annoying I rarely let it bother me since I can't seem to get
past two or three sentences before common sense makes me go to the
next post.
