I bought this Robertshaw 9870i thermostat online and having some
trouble installing it in my home. I'm trying to replace my existing
Honeywell CT3200 thermostat so that I could combine the humidistat and
thermostat as one unit. Basically I have 5 existing wires:
- 2 wires control the humidifier (humidistat)
- 3 wires connected to the the existing thermostat (honeywell CT3200)
** Red wire is connected to the Rc terminal (which has a jumper
to the R terminal) (Power)
** Black wire is connected to the W terminal (Heat)
** Green wire is connected to the G terminal (Fan)
How do I connect these wires to the Robertshaw 9870i thermostat?
By looking at the installation manual that came with the Robertshaw
unit, I should be doing the following (pls correct me if I'm wrong):
Humidistat:
- Connect one wire to the Common 24 VAC (C terminal of Robertshaw
Thermostat)
- Connect other wire to the H terminal which is the humidification
relay
Thermostat:
- Connect Red wire to the Common 24 VAC (C terminal of Robertshaw
Thermostat)
- Connect Black wire to the W2 terminal of Robertshaw Thermostat
- Connect Green wire to the G terminal of Robertshaw Thermostat
Am I correct? Do I need to set any jumper? Please help. Thanks in
advance.

You need to pay a professional before your melt your transformer or fry
your circuit board.
It's one of those jobs that you either know how to do it, or you don't.
You don't.

Can't tell you a thing... can't see it from here, cant see what equipment
its controlling, or how its configured. Is it a heat pump?? gas heat?? dual
fuel?? Are the control voltages the same between the system and the
humidifier?? do they have seperate control power sources??
*NOBODY* can tell you without a whole lot more information.
Your best bet is to call a local tech..... oh wait a minute... you got that
H'well stat from the big box store... and the RS stat from the
internet....... never mind

At least the poster is consistent. Bought the stat on the net,
and looking for install instructions on the net, well, usenet
that is.
We recognize good attributes where they are found.

You have to starve them.

I would contact the "Online" company you purchased it from and ask
them.
