I am not sure how you checked for voltage at the thermostat, but you
should use a volt meter. The voltage should be approximately 24v AC.
If you do not know how to do this, call someone who does.

The electric baseboard heaters I've worked on have used line voltage
thermostats to break the power to one side of the filament heater. That
would be 220 volts.

If you do not know how to write advice, call someone who does.

He says he used an electric bulb set to complete the circuit. If you do not
know how to read, call someone who does.

I misinterpreted his comment by thinking the thermostat was controlling
a relay which in turn controlled the voltage for the heater. Sorry for
the mistake. I hope you apply the same criteria to ALL the other
misleading comments in this news group.

As for your comment about writing advice however, I suggest you read
the comments by the so called "Pros." Not only are many of them vulgar
and go out of their way to ridicule a valid question, but some actually
try to cause damage to the writer's property. Although my comment may
not have been helpful or even apply, at least I did not purposely try to
do harm.
