A Google search turned up "Maximicer", which is a heat exchanger using
harvest/meltage water to precool incoming water. Back when I worked for
an ice machine company, we used the chillers designed for drinking
fountians as precoolers. Actually, we only used them at a couple of
locations, and I really couldn't say how much they helped. They were
used on Manitowoc and IceOMatic cubers and a flaker or two. For years we
dealt mostly with KoldDraft cubers, for which preccoling was not
practical or very beneficial. Larry
