I agree, no point in replacing the heat exchanger unless your gonna
convert to spark igniton. Dont worry about the rust too much, the
heat exchangers all crack in the same place, standing pilot or not.

I have probably written 30+ red tags on defective G20 and G8 heat
exchangers. Both models use the same style heat exchanger and I
find small hairline cracks at the back on the sbend. I take the
heat exchanger out and fill the cell with water and show the
customer it leaks.

Get rid of the lennox POS.

Buy a Trane

Just a FYI for you.................
You can take most new heat exchangers out (especially the crimped
one), fill them with water and they too will leak. Brand new right out
of the box.

Yeah our local codes allow for a 3% loss in a heat exchanger. When
you water test the g8 and g20 heat exchangers you will see water
leak thru the actual metal at the sbend. I'm starting to see alot
fo cracks in g26 as well, different heat exchanger though.
York makes a crappy crimped heat exchanger. They wouldn't hold
water LOL
