Long story short, I'm curious to know if a home-owner and or a
proffessional can retrofit an existing, approximately 20 years old,
Weil-McLain gas-fired boiler with a power vent so that it can be
disconnect from the chimney. I have no idea if power vent systems can
be installed on any relatively modern boiler or if the boiler needs to
have certain equipment or meet certain specifications before power
venting is an option. The boiler continues to run very well and I
don't intend to replace it so that I can remove it from the chimney.

Thanks for any help/advice

This can be done, however, it is something that needs to be done by a
trained professional.

Possibly - you need to have one visit and inspect the
installation.
