I have a 12yo Rheem Heat Pump that the HVAC tech can't figure why it is
shorting out the reversing valve solenoid. It has been replaced twice and
is out again. The tech is saying that he can't find any other electrical
problem and that they are done trying to fix it. He says They'll give me
credit from the repair bill toward a new system. Does anyone have any
ideas on the cause?

My idea is that you are a dumbass if you keep having the same company

These type comments were not exactly what I was looking for and are not
helpful. I am not looking to fix the problem myself but I also don't want
to blindly go from one company to another paying trip fees and trying one
thing after another just to find out they don't know what their doing
either. That is how I ended up using this company on a previous problem
that they actually fixed.
