Thats all well and good *IF* the coil is the correct voltage in the first
place.

Rheem uses different voltage coils...depending on the application...
Post model and serial number so I can make sure you have the correct part
number for the coil

ddutton had written this in response to
http://www.thestuccocompany.com/hvac/Re-Rheem-Heat-Pump-blowing-Reversing-Solenoid-36084-.htm
:
Model # RPMA-042JAZ
Serial# 5104G409600055

The first solenoid looked melted around the harness and it took out the
thermostat and transformer through the common when it went. The tech put
an in- line fuse in to prevent that from happening again. Both times
afterward the Solenoid appeared to be just cracked. He thought the initial
replacement might have been just a bad one from the supplier. The unit ran
initially after each replacement. Sometime around 5-6 hours later I would
realize that it wasn't working again. The tech called me today and came
out on his day off to look it over again. He checked the operation of the
defrost board and went over all the wiring again. He is still stumped.
