Regulator ? What's a regulator ? I can go get some fittings at Lowes
that kinda work to connect this up ......

(06-10) 12:01 PDT SANTA ROSA -- A 46-year-old Santa Rosa man suffered
burns when a clothes dryer that he had hooked up to a propane tank
exploded, authorities said today.

Charles Ballard suffered second-degree burns on his face, neck and
right arm during the accident Sunday at his home on Ludwig Avenue.

Ballard had recently moved into the house and was using the dryer for
the first time, said Battalion Chief Andy Pforsich of the Santa Rosa
Fire Department. The propane tank, left by a previous tenant, did not
have a regulator.

"He found the tank and the dryer sitting next to each other and
thought they went together," Pforsich said. "It overpressured fuel in
the dryer and when he turned it on, it exploded."

Flames from the explosion burned a wall of the house, a bamboo fence
and some grass, Pforsich said. With help from others, Ballard put out
the fire.

He then drove to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. From there, he was
transferred to St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. He was
released Monday.
