I have a 8-10 year old Trane Gas Pack. It looks similar to this (see
link), but is an older unit:

http://www.brotherair.com/trane%20gas%20pack.gif

Starting last Winter, and continuing last night, the following has been
occurring:

1. I turn on the heat at the thermostat
2. A blower starts on the outside unit
3. I hear an electric (buzz) that is the unit attempting to light gas
to start the heat
4. It buzzes for a couple seconds a few times, but the heater does not
ignite.
5. Eventually the blower stops and the heat does not come on

When it was happening in the heart of last Winter, my HVAC repair
technician thought that maybe condensation was freezing in the gas
line. He installed some sort of drain to prevent this. However, it
still failed intermittently.

Now it is failing again on a 60 degree day, so the problem is obviously
not caused by freezing weather.

1. Any ideas of what could be causing this? My HVAC repair technician
is at a loss.
2. From my simple view, it appears as if the gas is not reaching the
igniter (hence the electric start not igniting). What could cause this?
3. Is it likely a electronic issue, mechanical, or with the gas line.

Please help if you can. I'm at a loss and my pregnant wife will kill
me if it goes out again on a freezing night when I am on a business
trip.

Thanks!!

Al Moron,

What's wrong with you? Are you that shallow, or just ignorant? Do you
realize how stupid you just made yourself look? You might be the
biggest loser ever.

Someone asks for advice, and that is what you come back with? Boy,
you're a piece of work.

Based on your attitude, you are miserable person and hate your life.
Maybe moronic replies like you just posted gives a jerk like you some
satisfaction, but only you know how unhappy and pathetic your life is.

Good luck with your miserable, loser life.

Hey... You are the one who is in fear for your life. Personally, I wouldn't
live with someone who I was afraid "will kill me if...." or worse? Well,
maybe you're on to something especially if she finds out what you do during
a "business trip". Maybe you need to look into what she does when you are on
a "business trip". Maybe she doesn't need any additional heat?

Al's just trying to help keep you from blowing yourself up. Besides,
anyone can do what you do on a "business trip". It's just that some are
smart enough not to.

Jeff,
Maybe it is you that is ignorant. Who's the fool that had a broken
heater last year and still has one? It looks like you are the most
ignorant loser.
Now, lets get back to your furnace. Pick any control any wire or any
part and that could be your culprit.
Next, go find a new technician.
Lastly, how big are you pregnant wifes tits?
