We hired a new guy last week, he has a residential and light
commercial background. I think he is fairly knowledgeable although he
admits hes a bit overwhelmed by the type of work we do.
On the way home today he calls me. He cant get a newer Trane RTU to
light. I asked him what the ohm reading on the ignitor was he said 97
ohms. I told him its bad and at that ohm reading it will have
intermittent lockouts because it wont always fire. He replaced it and
it still wont light. He said its getting gas because he can smell it
coming out of the venter motor outlet.
I asked him if it had a regulator on it and he said yes. I told him
to check the inlet pressure which he did and it was low. I told him
to check the vent. Which he did and it was plugged from mud wasps.
He cleaned it out and it lit right up. Then he calls me back and says
"Mike youre a genius". I told him no, its a miracle because I dont
have the experience nor do I have any idea how a regulator works
because Lloyd says so. LOL
