IOW, some poor customer service rep on the phone had to take
your shit and be nice about it, so he blew you off.

"Yes, Sir, you're right, the instructions are indecipherable.
Here, let me walk you through them. Can you find the box the unit is
in ? OK, bring it in from the car, I'll wait ....."

" OK, open the box. You do that by slicing through the
packing tape that holds the flaps together. Yes, the rounded scissors
you're allowed to use will probably work.... OK, I'll wait while you
go ask for permission to use them......"

Who knows, maybe the thing is so fucking simple to put
together your average 5 year old could do it.

Or, maybe it's so simple to put together (it looks that way from what I read
on the online manual) that they honestly didn't think anyone was actually
going to have to use the manual as a verbatim step-by-step resource - ok,
maybe the five year old would, but they are usually just learning to read.
Probably the whole reason for the big STOP! sign that he's so concerned
about is the text on the top right side of the page which warns the person
installing it to leave it upright for two hours before startup so you don't
nuke the compressor right out of the box.

BTW:... He doesn't have much more luck with other simple consumer
electronics that is usually not a problem for children to handle:

He broke his Ipod "Apple too diagnosed and tested. No need to reply", PC
"...Microsoft worked on the pc for about 35 hours...", he broke his Brother
Scanner "but i somehow infer that the small-maximum scanning problem...",
he's not happy with NAV - "Norton admitted on the phone that there is a
problem and claims that...", and now he can't deal with unboxing an AC unit,
hooking up two hoses, putting them out the window, and turning it on. Go buy
an electric fan, unbox it, plug it in, turn it on, and sit in front of it.
Don't put your fingers or anything else - your blunt scissors, Ipod, NAV
install disks, or jammed paper you've removed from the scanner you broke -
in the slots where the blades are, and also don't touch the metal blades on
the plug while you are plugging it in. I'd show you pictures, but you
obviously wouldn't get it.... Oh, what the hell....
http://tinyurl.com/yvxags Be careful. Oh, and wash your hands after using
the bathroom, don't smoke while putting gas in your car (feel free to, as
long as no-one else is around to see you, or be injured), and turn off the
TV, fan, and lights when you go to bed. Don't forget to set the alarm clock
(there's a manual available for that, too. I'm sure it has some errors that
will stop you from setting it correctly, even though they are routinely set
by six year olds without incident every day)

That's why the manual has pictures :-)

        Let's see - you open the box, you find ;

        A unit. Said unit has 2 3" fittings, and 2 1/4 " fittings.
The box also contains a piece of 3 ' tubing, and a piece of 1/4 "
tubing.

After a brief period of time for experimentation, you discover
that A ) the 3 " tubing just doesn't seem quite right on the 14 "
fitting - it seems loose. And B ) the 1/4 " tubing doesn't quite seem
to fill those 3 ' fittings. Hmmmmm..... let's try something else
......

you're making it up, or you googled him.
