It can definitely show up in lighter color marble. Play it safe, go
with the white.
Another poster mentioned the concern about marble and water-based
adhesives. As far as I know the only marbles that curl with water are
black and green (not all of them, just from certain parts of the
world). You should always ask if there are any special considerations
with a particular stone, whether during installation or maintenance,
when you purchase the stone. The big box store may or may not know,
the tile store will.
