Was looking for the part number for a Dremel accessory and came upon
this
http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Tools/Pages/CategoryProducts.aspx?catid=21&catname=Oscillating+Tool
on the Dremel site. Looks very much to be a Fein Multimaster
workalike, although the blade attachment seems to be different and may
well address the one real shortcoming in the original Multimaster
(which Fein has also addressed in the second generation tools). The
name ("Multi-Max") also suggests thta they're targetting the
Multimaster. Supposed to be out in October.

If it's any good and the price is decent it looks like Fein may have
some real competition, which would be nice--maybe they'll finally have
to bring the price of the blades down to something reasonable.

You might also check out Proxxon, they have been making a clone for several
years now. Unfortunately it does not seem to have had an effect on Fein's
pricing.
