Wiring Tip #303

Just like people need exercise to remain strong, wiring is no
different. People neglect this, and then they wonder why their wiring
has failed. Wires should be exercised at least once every 3 months.
It's not that hard to do. Simply shut off the power. Then remove
every outlet, switch, and fixture in the house. Then flex each and
every wire in the box at least 100 times. This will make your wires
strong. If any wires break, they are already weak and need to be
replaced. Do this every 3 months, or sooner and keep your wires
strong. It's recommended that you contact an electrician prior to
exercising your wires, just in case any of them break and you need an
electrician to replace them. That's why it's best to never exercise
your wires on a weekend or holiday if an electrician can not be
gotten. Of course if you're handy and stock up on wire, then it dont
matter when you do it.
