Set up your sump to only pump down to about 8" above the
bottom of the pit, and dig the muck out by hand, periodically.
You might end up needing to put some sort of filter bag/cage
around the intake, if the pit is too small for settling to
take place. And have the stuff identified. It's probably
clay, but if not, you want to know what it is, and where it's
coming from.
