I am stunned as yet another of my GE profile appliances fail.

This is a GE Profile Double-Oven, installed in 2000, model #
JT950WDA2WW.

As I fired up the self-cleaning cycle for the upper oven, it
locked down the oven door and set the time to 4 hours. All was
good until the oven clicked over to the 2 hour mark. Everything
shut down and it's alarm claxton started sounding. The error
message is "F2" and clearing it doesn't help. I've resorted to
flipping the breaker.

Can someone please provide some assistance with why the oven
shut down and how to prevent it from happening again? (Beyond
not running the self-clean.)

Range - Oven Error, Fault or Function Codes
"F2 For an unknown reason, the oven temperature has exceeded a preset
threshold."

So basically the temp overshot and tripped the safety limit.

“F— and a number or letter” flash in the display.

You have a function error code.

• Press the CLEAR/OFF pad. Allow the oven to cool for
one hour. Put the oven back into operation.

If the function code repeats.

• Disconnect all power to the oven for at least 30
seconds and then reconnect power. If the function
error code repeats, call for service.
