The three outlets in my garage are protected with a GFCI circuit.

I run a freezer in the garage. The freezer trips the ground fault
occasionally when it turns on.

Do outlets in the garage have to have GFCI protection?

Is it common that a freezer will trip the GFCI when it turns on?

I can make two of the outlets GFCI and the third (the one that has the
freezer plugged in) non-GFCI.

Thanks!

Yes. Except ...

You can install a single non-GFCI receptacle for dedicated appliances.

Hope this helps,
William

Thanks!

Actually there will two outlets now. One for the freezer and one on the
ceiling for the garage door opener.
