My Wirlpool Gas cooktop cannot start by itself. When I turn the knob,
there is no clicking sound and no sparks. I have to use match to
light it on every time. I think the ignitor is bad.

Is this easy to be fixed by myself? or I have to call a specialist?

Thanks
SZ

Replace the igniter; similar to my BBQ.

Yes, the power receptacle has power of 120V, and I don't think the
cable to the cooktop has any problem.
However, I don't know how to open the cooktop box to check it inside.
It seems there is no way to open it from top. I checked from the
under cabinet and could not see any screws.
I guess I have to get the cooktop out off the counter and open it
somehow.

What is the correct way to open it to check the ignitor?

thanks
