I'm up in my attic doing work, adding insulation. I read a while
back, after Hurricane Ivan 2004, that many homes were lost because
their roofs(sheathing) came off. If you can keep it on, you can keep
your home from becoming a total loss.

Has anyone here retrofited their roof sheathing, by gluing it down,
while it is in place? Any tips?

Thanks,

tom

" A gable roof can be strengthened by installing additional braces in
the trusses and/or at the gable ends. A qualified builder can also
install galvanized metal hurricane straps. These help secure the roof
to the walls."

You might look into the adhesive that is being used to attach sheetrock
to trusses in new manufactured housing. They put the trusses on top of
the sheetrock and squirt an expanding foam adhesive along the sids of
the truss bottom chord and this forms a "fillet joint" of sorts on
either side and is said to be stronger than regular screwed in place
drywall due to the large glued area.

ewwww, I like the idea. I'm currently using a strong glue, AFG01 or
something certified, wonder if it meet their specs.
