I need to clean my gutters of leaves constantly. Every other day in the
fall and early winter, and every other week during the spring. I don't
do it that much because it is just too much trouble. I usually try and
get by doing it 2 or 3 times in the fall, and maybe once in the spring
and summer, but I see that is just not enough. It's a 2 story home, I
use a 22 foot extension ladder, and it's heavy, plus I have to make lots
of trips up and down as I move it around the house.
Is anyone familiar with any of these helpers?

I have the Sears accessory kit, and while it is very helpful, one PITA
with it is that the last segment of tubing (the curved one) would
always pull apart as I am going back and forth cleaning the gutter.
The only solution was to use ABS cement to secure the last sections of
tubing together.

I have the sears shop vac attachment and it works good if the leaves
are not wet. Like it was mentioned earlier, the pieces do come apart
but duct tape works to keep them together. You can have it vacuum up
the leaves or use it to blow out the leaves. I have a friend who
tells me that he just goes up on his roof with his leaf blower and
blows them out, but I'm afraid of heights. I also picked up a plastic
scoop ( I think it was only a couple of dollars) from home cheapo and
it is flexible enough to fit inside the gutters and scoop out the crud
and place into a bucket.

Chuckle. As a kid, I used to scoot along sideways on one hip on the edge of
the roof (shallow-pitch roofs only) and scoop it all out, and follow up with
a garden hose I dragged up on the roof for the small crud. My inner ears
told me to stop doing that, so now I wait for a dry day, and walk the roof
with my leaf blower, staying back an arm's length from the edge. Works
pretty well on these ultra-smooth aluminum coil-stock gutters, don't know
how well it would work on old-style galvanized with riveted or soldered
seams.

Due to advancing age and deteriorating balance, I wouldn't even think of
doing a 2-story or steep roof from above any more- I'd do it from a ladder 4
feet at a time, or hire it out.
