Hello all,

Does anyone know if the Exterior Hampton Bay Motion Lights can be
repaired. The Light comes on if the motion part is bypassed, but the
motion mechanism appears to be broken. Can the motion mechanish be
swapped out? Is it sold anywhere?

Go to home depot where the light was purchased and ask them.

CJ, I just asked this in another thread and this came back from "David
Nebenzahl
on how to replace the sensor. I got tied up and havent done it just yet.

---
Just to follow up on my own posting with some more detailed
instructions, after looking at one of those lights:

The sensor has 3 wires: black, white & red.

- Black goes to the incoming cable black;
- White gets tied to the two whites from the lampholders and the
incoming cable white;
- Red goes to both of the lampholder blacks.

The sensor is screwed into the base like the lampholders. After removing
the wires, loosen the locknut, then unscrew it. After screwing in the
new sensor, make sure it's positioned correctly on the base, then
tighten the locknut. You'll be able to move the sensor to aim it.

Look for the thread "Motion light turns on for a few seconds after inside
lights switched off" and you'll see him or he will see this.

He may not see you directly as he might spam block either hot-mail or
google-groups. I edited them both with a - so if he scans for that, this
message will pass through. He's I think in San Antonio.

As to where to get the sensor, probably same place you got the light? Or
any 'Home Depot/ other big hardware store' should have them. We have one
with a bad sensor so when he posted that someone else's problem was apt to
be that, we asked how to replace one. Looks real simple, easier than
replacing the unit in this case.
