No, I don't remember it.

You can't shout down a troll.
You have to starve them.

I'm definitely not trying to start any arguments here, pop. In fact,
I'm trying to uphold my own set of web ethics, which includes thanking
people promtply for offering help, so as to positively reinforce their
sharing of expertise with others over the web. I'm also trying to be
honest with people about the value of their contributions when I
believe they aren't helpful, but I'm not trying to be brutal, and I'm
not trying to create or harbor any grudges. The term "troll" is new to
me, but I may very well have been one at times elsewhere on the web -
but I'm not sure - I have to read the definition first! I've never
posted anything on this forum until a few days ago, and my furnace
really is busted. I'm very grateful for the information I've received
so far. I haven't fixed my furnace yet for budgeting reasons, but it
looks like I'll be callling a repairman early next week, unless I'm
very confident I can do it myself.
In the meantime, I'm all ears. I want to at least surprise the
repairman a bit by knowing something about his work. and no, I DON'T
KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE USE OF A VOM, UNLESS a VOM is a volt meter, in
which case I have one, and I test my batteries with it all the time.
And I used it once when I changed out some electrical outlets for GFCI
outlets in my bathroom. What more information about the furnace can I
supply? I'm happy to do this.

If anybody is reading this thread to troubleshoot their own furnace
problem, I found some helpful information, as well as American Standard
igniters for sale at the following web address:

http://arnoldservice.com/Troubleshooting_Heating_Problems.htm

But I think it might be important to read the info on this website
titled "Discharging the high voltage capacitor". Sounds like lethal
electrical shock is a possibility when working on a home furnace, if
not a highly likely one. Some loss of confidence in own ability to
tackle this problem, having just now learned this. I'm thinking I
might want to hire a pro when I can. These are fairly complex systems
to a novice. Still want to learn as much as possible. Ignorance is a
liability that can only cost me money.

Well, I read the definition of "troll" online, and I don't think that
there is any textual evidence in my posts to support the belief that I
am a troll. However, judging by the sudden lack of responses to my
posts, I think it's possible that I've been deemed a troll. Or maye
folks just don't hve the time or inclination to respond to this thread
anymore. The later possibility I'd understand, but the former somewhat
incenses me, if it's true. I made a specific effort to thank people
for their help, and I made no attempts to escalate any minor discord,
but only to resolve (although I did not soften or compromise my
opinions). I think the evidence for my claim is firmly established in
all the preceding text. I have to say I find this "troll" label very
worrisome, especially since I do have a sardonic sense of humor, if I
have one at all. Thank you very much for the help I did receive. I
appreciate it.
Pop, I am not a troll, but you did falsely accuse me of posting as one
last year. You of course have absolutely no evidence, and maybe you
don't need any to blacklist me successfully. "word for word" - THAT IS
WHOLLY INCORRECT AND UNTRUE. And read the exchanges between me and Abe
and note how they ended with mutual civility! How was I baiting an
argument? I do not appreciate your very irresponsible and unfair
accusation. After all, aren't you a...communist? Maybe just a
simple-minded dipshit. The hell with you - and to prove I'm not
trolling, this will be my final post to this forum.
