How to get a straight line?

I'm trying to install drawer guides in
an "old" kitchen cabinet.
What is the best way to determine a straight
line from the front of the cabinet to the back
so my brackets will align correctly?

Ruler, level, or make a template that aligns with something in the cabinet.
