I'm in South Georgia and I'm looking for an Avocado colored bathroom sink to
keep from having to replace a toilet and tub. I know the color went out of
fashion but I didn't think it was this hard to find. I checked refinishing
but they want $200 to do it. That sounded high, since a new (any other
color) is only about $100. Does anyone know of a source for a new or good
used one? Thanks.

Do you have a Habitat For Humanity home center in your area? The one
here has all kinds of sinks, both kitchen and bathroom, in about every
color you can imagine. Any other second hand building material place
could likely have one also. I have avocado in my house also. Replaced
the kitchen sink with SS about 25 years ago, and the original avocado
refrigerator about 15. No plans to do anything to the bathrooms though.
I am in the process of fixing up the place next door, which I also own.
If you needed anything in that IMO hideous harvest gold you would be in
luck. Larry

Ebay, craigslist, On ebay make it a "favorite search" and they will
notify you.
Although if the refinishing would last, and I don't know, even I (who
other posters here will tell you, I am the cheapest guy on the list.)
don't think 200 is too much. It's only 100 dollars mroe than 100.
And it is harder to paint something at your house then it is to make
new on an assembly line. I would look for a avocado for a while,
depending on how badly the current setup annoyed me.
I'm sort of in your shoes. I have a harvest gold kitchen that is 28
years old, and the fridge will go first. The dishwasher has about 6
colors built in, and I can repaint the range hood (If the inside
doesn't cause too much problem, but painting the stove seems
impossible to me. Is it? Because it's much bigger and it gets hot.
So if the fridge breaks I'll have to buy a new stove too. :( And
probably a new range hood, since I presume they are not expensive, but
it would be really stupid since I almost never use the fan and the
charcoal filters cost a bundle to replace.
I should just put in a light, but then everyone will pity me when they
come over.
