Value would have to be number 1. Microsoft needs to be many
orders of magnitude better to justify the price.
Security, no brainer. Everyone knows this, whether they choose
to admit it or not.
Spyware, browser hijacking, popup ads, etc. may or may not be
included in the security bucket in your world.
Stability, much lower incidence of applications taking down the
entire system, forced reboots, etc.
Faster update cycle from bug report to patch.
64-bit support is *still* behind Linux, although it's catching
up, having been over 2 years late to the party for AMD64 and
em64T.
