That is, of course, your opinion and your right. One would of
course hope for better dialogue.

Followups reset.

(ObAltHomeRepair: It would be interesting to contemplate,
of course, a control system for one's house that can
integrate with the computer system in a secure yet
friendly fashion. I'd posit that Linux would be a darned
good selection, though FreeBSD would be equally good in
that area, hardware support permitting. The House Of
Tomorrow can be yours today, presumably, though there's
a few issues as to what actual software would run on this
system. It's probably also overkill unless one has a lot
of thermal sensors, in which case one might contemplate
a control system that attempts to keep each sensor --
and the room containing it -- at the desired temperature,
with optimal power or energy usage. The concept is vaguely
like central air or a central vacuum system, in my mind.)

Maybe the Internet has the answers I need. It certainly answered my
questions about wang enhancement.

lol

Got this email from our network admins yesterday (we run WinXP/2K at work):

Incident: ISD System Reboot
Impact Level: Informational
Status: Available
ETR: Pending
Event: ISD Infrastructure requests that all ISD users reboot their PC's
tonight before they go home and tomorrow morning when they start work in
order to install patches.

I got some serious shit when I mentioned that (a) we wouldn't have had this
issue were we running Linux and (b) real OS's don't have to reboot in order
to install patches.
