I am sealing off a door in my house, and need to put new siding where
it used to be. The entire house has 8" aluminum siding.

I have looked at every store I can think of (all of the big box home
improvement stores, and scoured the internet looking for aluminum
siding for sale, but have had no luck. Everything is vinyl. Does
anyone have a suggestion for a place to look (online would be fine)?

I'm not worried about color, because after the new siding is up, I'll
be painting the entire house.

Thanks,
Jeff

I can't find any for my house either. What I have decided to do is remove
siding from a wall in the back of my house and replace it with new siding
(just that one wall). Then I will have spare aluminum siding for the rest of
the house.

Then some day when I win the lottery, I will replace the aluminum siding on
the rest of the house with the same thing I used on the back.

People who are removing aluminum siding are getting $600 to $800 per
pickup truck load at the junk yard. You best bet is to go to the junk
yard, tell them what you want, and offer them a premium for some.

I have no problem buying aluminum siding in my area. Try a real construction
supply house. They should carry both plain and textured.

I had a similar problem about 6 years
ago when replacing a sliding door with
2 double hung windows. None of the big
box stores carried 8" smooth finish
aluminum. I could find 8" wood grained,
8" divided into 2 4" but not single 8".
I checked with many smaller places and
finally found one about 15 mile away.
It was only white, but my other siding
had been painted, so it didn't matter. The
point is to check the smaller places and
you may have to drive a bit.
