In two weeks, the US Postal rates are going up to $0.42, up one penny.

Went to Post Office to buy stamps. Guy in line suggests I buy the
"forever" stamps as rate increase is soon.

Got home and Googled. Yes, May 12, 2008 rate goes into effect. This is
just a Pay Forward of a Good Deed. Many of you may already know about
this increase.

Paying forward a good deed? Sounds romantic, but assuming rates go up
.01 per year, buying "forever" stamps currently amounts to an ROI of
about 2.4%. That's not exactly Warren Buffet style investment advice.

I don't care about the few cents, but having to go and buy "make up" stamps and
putting two stamps on everything until you use them up is a royal pain.

But thats the whole point of the "forever stamps" that have been sold
for some time now. They are non denominated which eliminates the "make
up" stamps and conveniently allows for much more frequent rate increases.
