A bedroom door should be painted the
color of the bedroom or the color of the
hallway or both colors?

Yes -- or a third contrasting colour too.

I paint doors the same color as the color used on trim throughout the
house. If the trim is a feature you want to enhance, and most isn't,
paint trim one color, door same as room or different shade of color in
room. Different colors in adjoining rooms, can paint each side of door
the color of the room it faces when closed. Pretty much a matter of
taste, but different color trim can chop up a room if the scale and/or
placement isn't balanced.

Paint it any way you like. Most folks go bedroom color inside, hall
color outside. And then there are those that prefer varnish on both
sides, varnish hall side...
Oh well, you get the idea.

I sure the heck would not paint the bedroom side the same as the hall
or vice versa. Either keep it the same as the room on each side, or
just use a trim color throughout. If you use flat latex on the walls,
I would not use flat on a door. It gets dirty too easy.
Myself, all doors are varnished except exterior doors painted the same
as the outside trim which is a glossy white. Most of the house is
aluminum sided anyhow.

Of course it's up to you. There is no laws to judge the color.

I once painted another house where every room had the same color trim
but darker. Light blue walls, navy blue trim, lime green walls,
forest green trim, etc. The only one different was the kitchen with
yellow walls dark brown trim.
