I'm seriously considering covering the T1-11 siding of our rancher with
a synthetic stacked-stone. I haven't gotten an estimate yet, having just
looked more closely at the builders sho . My question is, "is there a
down side to this kind of siding"? Oh ya, "Is there any other enhancement
that I should consider"?

I plan to have the siding and fascia covered with aluminum at the same
time which I guess just bought me new guttes. I had the old windows
replaced
several years ago with low-E, therma-pane.

TIA,
Chuck

From all the horror stories on here about stucco retrofits, I think a gun
would be quicker. I think OP is talking the faux brick stuff that nails up
like shingles, but is thick enough to actually look like brick. And being
individual bricks, it doesn't have any panel seams to give it away.

I own 7 stucco houses, all with real 3 coat stucco all between 50 and 60
years old. Those horror stories are about the fake stucco, the sprayed on
stuff that is about 1/8 of an inch thick.

The real stuff will outlast us all and holds a coat of paint 10+ years.

About the time I had mastered getting the toothpaste back in the tube, then
they come up with this striped stuff.

In our Mojave Desert; after the stucco, I have added faux stone
accents to one home.

Is he talking about stucco or imitation stucco? I didn't think so,
although I've never heard the term 'synthetic stacked-stone' before.
