This would be a good underlayment for wood flooring, ceramic or natural
stone flooring.

With carpet, it provides 17db of sound isolation, but the normal carpet
pad would still be needed to provide the soft foot feel that we seek.

Cork is resilient, yes. but not as much as the foam pad that goes under
carpet.

Both would be nice, if you can afford both.
