Is ice and water shield used in the Northeast U.S for asphalt shingle
roofs beypnd the eaves and valleys? Would there be any benefit to using
it around flashing for chimmney, vent pipes, air vents? Is it needed
along the rakes and ridge of the roof also?

Watch this video on installation and they'll tell you all the places
to use it.
